Why compliance matters
Staying compliant isn’t just about ticking boxes. It’s about ensuring the safety of your patients, your colleagues and yourself. Whether you’re working regular sessions or picking up ad-hoc locum shifts, being fully compliant is essential.
Here are the key areas we’re highlighting right now:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
This is a core skill every clinical professional must maintain. Annual BLS training ensures you are confident and capable in emergency situations. It could quite literally save a life.
We recommend refreshing this training every 12 months, in line with NHS standards.
Safeguarding (Levels 2 and 3)
Safeguarding training isn’t just for children. It includes adults at risk too. Depending on your role, you’ll need to complete either Level 2 or Level 3 safeguarding training.
For GPs, ANPs and Practice Nurses, Level 3 is typically required.
Mandatory training modules
Depending on your placement, this may include:
- Infection prevention and control
- Information governance
- Fire safety
- Equality, diversity and human rights
- Conflict resolution
- Health and safety
These modules are regularly reviewed by NHS trusts and CQC-registered providers, so it’s important to keep them up to date.
